Movie Review: Train To Busan

People who haven't seen it have been asking if it really was that nice. Here's my answer: YES. ABSOLUTELY.

I am trying my hardest to shut up about this movie but I simply cannot. For the past few days, this movie has been occupying my mind more often than I thought it would. You know when you finish a book, series and movie and you liked it so much you start researching things about it online? Well, that's exactly what I am going through right now.

WATCHING nothing. HTGAWM is coming back soon though so I can't wait to watch that again!

LISTENING to Frank Ocean's new album, Blonde

WEARING pajamas and a big t-shirt. Long weekends are the best.

THINKING about this blog and how nilalangaw ulit siya. I am also thinking about how much time I wasted sleeping and attempting to cope with life. Also thinking about my grades, the looming amount of schoolwork, And thinking about how I should manage my time more and thinking about how I'm thinking too much lately. Maybe I should stop thinking and stressing and start doing? I'm also thinking about how messy my life is and I REALLY NEED A PLANNER.

EATING churros.

ENJOYING the long weekend.

FEELING overwhelmed and pressured with the amount of things we have to do for finals. Pressured because I feel like I can't leave things I am done with for certain reasons I cannot post online. I feel pretty weak too, because I just recovered from a 3 day battle with fever. I'm turning into a sickly girl.

WRITING in my journal and a private (may or may not publish) post about Pokemon.

READING Scorose and basically anything Harry Potter related fanfiction/headcanons. Anything. Harry Potter has been my hold on sanity for the past month. My little escape from reality.

Ulraaaayt. It's been a month since my trip to Hong Kong and I've finally decided to put up a blog + vlog together with it!! *PATS SELF ON THE BACK* I've been busy with a lot of stuff since I came back from Hong Kong, plus my laptop issues and then school - it was hell and made me sad because I miss all the free time I had. I think I took some pretty cool photos so I decided to upload them here.

This was my first time out of the country so of course I was hella excited for this trip! This was my mom's birthday gift for me, thank you mother!!!

8TEEN (a thank you note)

Hello, your 4'11 girl is finally legal! (And still below the 5 foot height.)

I turned 18 approximately two weeks ago and fun fact: I think birthdays are like new years for a human person - and the new year as in January 1 is earth's birthday (But like mother earth is waaaay older than 2016 but yeah, still.)

So, I had my little Samantha's new year exactly a week ago, June 3rd. But my celebration started a day earlier. Actually, once it hits June 1st, it's already my birthday, whether you like it or not. June 3 is just the official, official thing. The whole month of June is my birthday.

(This is how passionate I am when it comes to my birthday.)

Warning: Kinda photo overload

June (READ ME)

WATCHING ... sadly, nothing as of now. But I did watch a few films from the French Film Festival which happened last week and ends today!

LISTENING to Where My Love Goes by Lawson. It's such a sweet song and I manage to tear up from time to time when I listen to it. I tear up most when the song suddenly comes on the radio and catches me off guard.

WEARING my school uniform. Lol, back to school aka medyo hell. Medyo, because I'm actually interested in learning. Kind of. I just wish I could do it in bed, under my blanket???

THINKING about sem break... already.

EATING not really eating... more like drinking. Caramel Latte. Who knew I'd actually get into coffee??

ENJOYING the spoils of my birthday!! Hehe. Thank you for the birthday money, titos and titas! I'm also enjoying the wi-fi here at Krispy Kreme.

FEELING really sad because I had to reformat my laptop back to Windows 8. Apparently, my laptop cannot handle Windows 10 which gives me trouble in editing videos in Sony Vegas. So, I lost most of my files and programs. It's really sad. I was supposed to upload a birthday video last week but sadly, laptop problems. I also lost one to three important videos that was supposed to be part of my vlog. I spent a night crying about it. Because BIRTHDAY.

WRITING this blog post and a Thank You note blog post and my photography homework.

BOOK REVIEW: The Crown by Keira Cass

When Eadlyn became the first princess of Illéa to hold her own Selection, she didn’t think she would fall in love with any of her thirty-five suitors. She spent the first few weeks of the competition counting down the days until she could send them all home. But as events at the palace force Eadlyn even further into the spotlight, she realizes that she might not be content remaining alone.

Eadlyn still isn’t sure she’ll find the fairytale ending her parents did twenty years ago. But sometimes the heart has a way of surprising you…and soon Eadlyn must make a choice that feels more impossible—and more important—than she ever imagined.

The amazing last book of the Selection series...? Nope. No regrets. I just didn't feel this one, just like how I felt with The One. Similar to the supposedly ending to this series, The Crown felt rushed. I guess Kiera had to wrap things up eventually. I'm just disappointed with the whole turn out of this one.

Maybe I expected too much from the final book? Or maybe it wasn't well written like I think?

MAJOR MAJOR SPOILERS: (Read at your own risk!!!)

BOOK REVIEW: Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard

If there’s one thing Mare Barrow knows, it’s that she’s different.

Mare Barrow’s blood is red—the color of common folk—but her Silver ability, the power to control lightning, has turned her into a weapon that the royal court tries to control.

The crown calls her an impossibility, a fake, but as she makes her escape from Maven, the prince—the friend—who betrayed her, Mare uncovers something startling: she is not the only one of her kind.

Pursued by Maven, now a vindictive king, Mare sets out to find and recruit other Red-and-Silver fighters to join in the struggle against her oppressors.

But Mare finds herself on a deadly path, at risk of becoming exactly the kind of monster she is trying to defeat.

Will she shatter under the weight of the lives that are the cost of rebellion? Or have treachery and betrayal hardened her forever?

The electrifying next installment in the Red Queen series escalates the struggle between the growing rebel army and the blood-segregated world they’ve always known—and pits Mare against the darkness that has grown in her soul.

(Warning... Spoilers!)

WEARING gym clothes - I'm about to leave for the gym.

ENJOYING The daily shower of rain lately. Hello, rainy season! AND FINALLY, GOODBYE HEAT. I'm just hoping the La Nina effect won't be that bad.
FEELING extra frustrated with my 3G connection that's currently connecting my laptop and I can't upload a photo + anxious about how I have to be back in school in less than a month. I hope I get a really nice schedule for the first semester. *Crosses fingers*

Animated Films

I was re-watching these anime films last week and I am still in awe with how cute the art and stories are. I definitely recommend you guys to give these films a shot, especially if you don't watch anime! All 3 films listed here won't take much of your time since they only last around an hour and a half. Perfect for killing time!! (I just sounded like an infomercial.) You can find all of these on Youtube with subtitles. Yaay!

Tamako Love Story is a light-hearted love story between two teenagers who have known each other since birth. How the characters interact with each other and the scenes and animations are especially cute. It seems pretty typical in every aspect but the characters and their personalities make it special. Mochizo (the boy) is a special snowflake and he must be protected at all costs. This is a short film following the anime Tamako Market. You don't have to watch the anime to understand this because I didn't watch the anime series itself too.

Definitely worth the watch if you're looking for the butterflies in my stomach kind of feeling.

BOOK REVIEW: Red Queen by Victoria

This is a world divided by blood – red or silver.

The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of god-like superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change.

That is, until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy the balance of power.

Fearful of Mare’s potential, the Silvers hide her in plain view, declaring her a long-lost Silver princess, now engaged to a Silver prince. Despite knowing that one misstep would mean her death, Mare works silently to help the Red Guard, a militant resistance group, and bring down the Silver regime.

But this is a world of betrayal and lies, and Mare has entered a dangerous dance – Reds against Silvers, prince against prince, and Mare against her own heart.

“Anyone can betray anyone.”

First of all, I'd like to say I could not put this book down once I started it. Hell, I finished it one day - (and night?) even though I had classes the following day. I don't know how I did it but, I did. Total book hangover. I soaked up every page. It wasn't boring at all.

WATCHING Akagami no Shirayuki Hime. Yes, anime. I love anime. Especially this one. It has me squealing because I am in love with Zen. You will find me pausing in the middle of the episode to scream into a pillow or roll all over the bed. Welcome to my list of fictional boyfriends, Zen.
LISTENING to...nothing much really. I guess I could consider my pre-shower, shower, after shower jam which is One Dance by Drake.
WEARING big, white shirts almost every day because it's just so hot.
WANTING to go cliff diving with friends!!! I've been watching videos of people cliff diving and it seems really fun. I'm a person who hates roller coasters but then I'm really g for cliff diving?? At least when I fall there's gonna be water and not concrete ground. Do you get me?
THINKING about what I should do for my 18th birthday when I don't really want to do anything. lol
EATING Chocolates and Soya milk.
ENJOYING the gym! Going to the gym is basically my life now. I'm also enjoying my French lessons but that's only every Saturday so...
FEELING content so far with my daily life... and a tad bit frustrated because it's so hard to get a flat stomach. Huhu.
WRITING Episodes for the Episode app. (Hahaha?)
READING Stuff Matters by Mark Miodownik - I just started it yesterday.

Test Shots

I got my camera two weeks ago and I just had to take it out for a photoshoot. The camera was-slash-is my debut gift from my dad but I pushed for it to be given to me earlier so I could have something to do during the summer. (I turn 18 in 39 days!)

We took the photos at Circuit Makati, a nice place for taking photos and hanging out with friends/family. I swear it's a nice place! You can sit around the skate park or parking lot if you don't want to spend money. I'd bring my friends there if only they didn't live far from Circuit.

Life At Home Without Internet

For as long as I remember, I've been nagging my dad to apply for a wi-fi connection at home. I'm almost 18 now and it still has not happened. (DAAAAD PLS) It's been lit, fam.

So, shoutout to the teenagers who are in love with the internet but has this kind of the problem.

1. Broadbands and mobile data are my best friends and yours too.
Until prepaid broadbands decided to get rid of their unli surf promos. I used to time my registration and made sure I made the most out of the 24 hours or 2 days of unlimited internet. All nighters. This is why I am so so small.

back and i'm better

Here we have an accurate photo of me and how I felt during the past month and a half. (If you want some nice music, scroll down, play the video and continue reading. Yay!)

Four months into 2016 and my life is already falling apart. Just kidding. I just had to say that. Knowing a bunch of memes are going to pop up in your mind satisfies me. February was really stressful for me. A lot of personal and academic problems started throwing themselves at me and my thoughts and energy were all over the place and I couldn't make any content for my blog I was actually content with.

The Cake Planet

The Cake Planet is a cafe along Dona Soledad, Betterliving! I'm currently at Cake Planet right now, making this post.

Story time: I found out about this place back when I was a third year student. That was almost 3 years ago - and now that I'm in my second year of college, I decided to finally hang out at this place this year.

I absolutely adore this place and it's only my third time back. I'm definitely going to spending a lot more time here. I'm giving this place a 3.5/5.

I don't usually do reviews of coffee shops because I don't drink coffee at all!
So, I just want to say I hate coffee. It's bitter and annoying, no matter how much sugar or milk I place in it, I just despise the bitterness. (Probably because I'm already full of bitterness. HAHAHA.)

monthly currents: january

WATCHING Modern Family again. YAAAAY. This honestly makes me so happy because Modern Family is one my favorite TV Shows. Watching the first few scenes already had me giddy with happiness. I love this family so much.

I put Love In Tokyo on hold because I don't have access to the internet 24/7... and I like watching 5 episodes in a row.
LISTENING to Indian Summer by Jai Wolf and Middle by DJ Snake. These two songs have been on repeat and make me feel ~things~
WEARING leggings. I love leggings so much. SO WARM. SO COMFORTABLE.
WANTING the semester to end! I want free time, all the time.
THINKING about midterms and the things I have to study. Lol. Thinking about studying. But I don't even know where to start!!!! I'm also thinking about money. But that's nothing new.
EATING ...Yakisoba. I've been chowing down on so much instant noodles lately. I am going to die early. I should stop. Thank God, I haven't eaten instant noodles for 2 days now. IT'S JUST SO UNHEALTHY YET SO GOOD,
ENJOYING the new arrangement of my room! I also put up Christmas lights on the wall. I can't sleep when the lights are off because that's how much of a scaredy cat I am. Having Christmas lights makes it possible for me to finally switch of the lights when I sleep.
WRITING a 20 page script for my class, scriptwriting. Louise is right next to me doing the same thing.
READING (read) The Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. I'm still a sucker for dystopian fantasies and this book just swallowed me. I heard the next book is coming out next month. Lucky me! I'm not reading anything else so I won't forget any details.

My January has been a bit slow and boring filled with football training and concentrating on my studies. I don't actually feel like I'm concentrating on them, but it seems like that's all that's happening in my life right now.

Is it too late to talk about new year resolutions and such? Yes?

It's been two weeks since we entered 2016 and to be honest, I don't ~feel~ 2016 at all. I had an uneventful new year. I didn’t even leave the house!

Let's admit it, new year's resolutions will mostly be forgotten by next month but, that's no reason to not consider the fact. I'm actually one of those people who like setting goals even though I tragically fail at attaining it most of the time. If I keep thinking that meh, I'm probably going to give up along the way or I cannot work out every week or I say I'm organized now but I'll be a wreck in 2 weeks.
